BEFORE YOUR ESTIMATE

Planning interior painting in Raleigh: define the room first

A useful painting request starts with the space you want to change and the surfaces you want included. Whether you are refreshing one bedroom or planning a larger interior update, make a room-by-room list before discussing an estimate with Solid Solutions Construction.

You do not need every color or finish decided to start a conversation. Separate what you have chosen from what you still want to discuss. Photos, your Raleigh project location and a short description of your priorities give the conversation a clear starting point.

Make a room and surface checklist

For each room, list the walls, ceiling, baseboards and other trim you want painted. If you also want doors included, identify them and ask whether that work can be included in your project. Note surfaces you want left unchanged rather than assuming that everything in a room is part of the estimate.

Use a simple checklist: room name; surfaces to include; surfaces to leave alone; areas needing attention; color or finish preferences; and decisions still open. For example, a bedroom request might specify walls and baseboards, leave the ceiling unchanged and flag a previous wall patch for review. This is a planning example, not a description of a completed Solid Solutions project.

Where colors or finishes differ, identify the intended boundaries. Ask when selections need to be confirmed and whether changing them later would affect the proposed scope, price or timing.

Show the areas that need preparation

Send photos of the whole room as well as close-ups of holes, cracks, uneven areas or previous patches you want discussed. Explain what you have noticed without trying to diagnose the cause. Ask which preparation tasks would be included and which areas need closer review.

Solid Solutions Construction lists drywall installation and finishing among its residential remodeling work. If your painting plans also involve drywall work, describe both needs together. Confirm how the proposed preparation and any separate drywall work will appear in the written scope, rather than assuming every visible issue is included in painting.

Clarify materials, room access and responsibilities

Before agreeing to the work, ask who will supply paint and other materials, which products and finishes are proposed, and how those choices will be recorded. These are questions to confirm for your property, not statements about a standard materials policy.

List furniture, wall decorations, window coverings and other items near the surfaces to be painted. Ask who will move or remove each item, who will put it back, and what you need to have ready. Also ask how floors and items remaining in the room will be protected and what cleanup is included.

Tell the team if rooms need to remain in use during the project. Discuss access, your preferred timing and the order of work. Ask when each space can return to normal use based on the actual materials and work proposed.

Review the scope before choosing your next step

When reviewing an estimate, check the room list, included surfaces, preparation, materials and responsibilities alongside the price. An estimate for walls alone is not the same scope as one that includes ceilings, trim and drywall work. Ask about unclear items before making a decision.

Request a written scope for the actual property and ask how any additional work or changed selections would be discussed and approved. To start, send photos, your Raleigh project location, approximate measurements if available and your preferred timing. Call Solid Solutions Construction at (336) 541-4965 or email Solidsolutions.nc@gmail.com to discuss your project-specific estimate.

BEFORE WE BEGIN

A few good
questions.

Do you take residential projects in Raleigh?

Yes. This Raleigh service is focused on residential painting and remodeling. Share your project location and the work you have in mind so we can discuss the next step.

Can painting be part of a remodeling project?

Yes. Tell us about both needs, including any drywall work and the surfaces you want painted. We’ll talk through them together when reviewing your project.

What should I send for an estimate?

Start with photos, the project location, approximate measurements if you have them, and the changes you want. Let us know your preferred timing and whether the rooms will be in use during the work.

Does a room painting estimate automatically include ceilings and trim?

Do not assume it does. List each surface you want painted and check that the written scope identifies what is included and what will remain unchanged.

What responsibilities should I confirm before painting begins?

Ask who supplies materials, moves furniture, removes and replaces nearby items, protects surfaces and handles cleanup. Confirm these details for your project rather than relying on assumptions.

What if I have not chosen the colors or finishes?

Say which choices are still open. Ask when selections need to be confirmed and whether later changes would affect scope, price or timing.
